What is Juvederm?

Juvederm is a smooth consistency injectable gel dermal filler derived from hyaluronic acid, a natural complex sugar found within the body.  It helps to restore the volume between collagen and elastin fibers below the surface of the skin resulting in the diminished appearance of wrinkles and folds for a younger and more even appearance. How does Juvederm work?

When injected below the surface of the skin, Juvederm replaces the hyaluronic acid that has been lost over time. As it integrates between the collagen and elastin, the hyaluronic acid not only restores volume but also improves the hydration of the skin.

Because Juvederm is a fully biodegradable and biocompatible gel based on a natural substance, there is little or no risk of allergic reactions that can sometimes occur as a result of treatments that utilize animal-derived fillers. No pre-testing is required and as Juvederm breaks down it is easily absorbed by the body.

How long does the treatment take?

The length of treatment session varies from client-to-client based on how many areas require correction and how many applications of Juvederm will be required to achieve optimal results. In general, Juvederm treatments range from 30 minutes to an hour and can be easily scheduled between other appointments or on your lunch hour. No recovery time is required so you will be able to return to your daily activities immediately.

Are there any side effects?

Juvederm is a fully biodegradable and biocompatible gel based on a natural substance and because it is not derived from animal-based proteins or products, there is little or no risk of an allergic reaction. Some clients may experience tenderness, temporary redness, or minimal swelling at the injection areas. Any discomfort following treatment should disappear within 24 hours or within a few days.

How long do results last?

Because of its high concentration of hyaluronic acid and its ability to naturally integrate with the body's tissues, Juvederm has been shown to be a long-lasting wrinkle correction option.
