What is Ultherapy®?
Ultherapy® is a procedure that has been called a “non-surgical facelift.” It is used to counter signs of aging such as wrinkles, loose or sagging skin, and a general loss of volume on the face, brow area, neck, and chest. It has been reviewed and cleared by the FDA and is an exciting new technology that will allow the creation of a more youthful, vibrant look in those who undergo the procedure.
How Does It Work?
It uses focused ultrasound to create energy in the form of heat to trigger the regeneration of collagen, which gives skin a full, youthful appearance which we naturally lose as we age. This heat energy is focused on different layers of tissue in the body to affect change in muscle, subcutaneous skin tissues, and lastly on the superficial epidermal tissues to reduce or eliminate the appearance of fine wrinkles. This ultrasound energy stimulates the production of collagen and other elastic tissue, which results in firmer skin with less sagging and fewer noticeable wrinkles.
How Should I Prepare for the Treatment?
Hardly any preparation is necessary. You can and should maintain your regular dietary habits, stay well-hydrated, and engage in normal work or exercise habits immediately before and after the procedure. Makeup and other skin care products should be removed from the areas that will undergo treatment immediately prior to an Ultherapy® session.
What Does the Procedure Entail?
The Ultherapy® applicator is placed against the skin, and the practitioner will adjust the device to the appropriate settings by use of an ultrasound viewing device. Once adjusted, high frequency ultrasound energy is applied to the targeted areas. After the procedure is finished, the ultrasound applicator is removed. The length of a single session depends on the area being targeted.
What Can I Expect After a Treatment?
There is typically no associated downtime. You can return to work or your regular activities immediately after a treatment. You will start to notice the results in time, helping them to look natural.
